love

Lately I feel like God has been teaching me about love. I think I tend to be a judgmental person, but I have felt God speaking to me through different venues about what love looks like in my life. Or maybe more specifically, what love should look like in my life. Through messages at church, through leaders at youth group, through kids at youth group, through the people at my job...

It is hard to explain, but I feel God softening my heart and telling me to learn to see people through His eyes. At times when I start judging people or criticizing them, I sense God putting a specific prayer for that person(s) in my heart. I know I am not where I need to be yet--and it may be a lifelong process--but I thank God that he has not given up on me and is using simple things in my life to show me how he loves me so I can turn around and show others my Father's love.

My first post~Dec. 2nd (and it's snowy outside!)

So my first post. Just a welcome to my blog and I hope you enjoy reading. This is mostly meant for my family. I figured this might be something nice for me to do because you can read my blogs without having to have an account or sign in to anything. As of now, I am thinking that I will have some more thought out posts, some will be a "this was my day" kind of posts. So I think I am going to make my first post more of "this was my day" kind of thing.
Today was Sunday and I really like Sundays. I get to go to church and worship God and hear a great message. I also get to see friends, get coffee, and hang out with a brother or two afterwards. Today church was good. Worship is always amazing and today Pastor Joe spoke (the associate pastor) on Christmas. They just started a new sermon series today called "Christmas: the Beautiful Mess". Pastor Joe preached out of Matthew chapter 1, when Joseph finds out Mary is pregnant.
After church we had a leaders meeting and I have actually gotten to enjoy those. Right now Ryan and I are just relaxing at home, praying that we don't feel any sicker than we already feel.
There is lots of snow outside...and I feel like it's too soon. I hadn't gotten used to the cold yet, and now we have lots of snow. But it's ok. It is pretty outside.
And tomorrow is Monday. We will probably set up the Christmas tree tomorrow. That's always fun. Now we need to start our Christmas shopping. Yikes!!
I really do love this season. Christmas is my favorite holiday and I am so grateful we are able to celebrate the birth of Jesus.
